> The Delhi High Court has said Amitabh Bachchan must appear in person on November 16 if his settlement with some defendants in his personality rights suit stays incomplete and he wants to pursue his claims.

Amitabh Bachchan will have to come to the Delhi High Court in person if he wants to keep fighting his personality rights suit and the settlement with the defendants is not completed.

Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav gave the direction on Friday. The court heard that mediation had produced an amicable settlement with some of the defendants. The agreement could not be signed because of logistical issues on the actor's side.

His counsel, Dhruv Anand, asked for more time to finish the paperwork and put the agreement on record. The court agreed and listed the matter for November 16, 2026.

The order sets out the condition clearly. If the settlement fails or stays incomplete, and Bachchan wants to pursue any claim in the suit, he "shall remain personally present on the next date of hearing". The court cited its powers under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023. The case has not been settled or dismissed, and it remains pending.

Bachchan filed the suit in 2022. He said his name, image and voice were being used without his permission, including to link him with lottery schemes, and also by businesses and merchandise sellers. In November that year, the court granted him an ex parte interim injunction protecting his personality rights.
