> Writer Kona Venkat says Chiranjeevi stepped in when Sree Vishnu's Comrade Kalyan was stuck with the censor board, and that the star took the film's jokes about Acharya in good spirit.

Chiranjeevi stepped in to get Sree Vishnu's Comrade Kalyan through the censor board, writer Kona Venkat revealed while speaking to the media.

Kona Venkat, who wrote the story and screenplay, said certification was held up for two reasons: the film's Naxalism backdrop, and its punch lines and references to other heroes. The film was then sent to the Revising Committee in Delhi.

That is when Chiranjeevi got involved. When he heard the film was stuck, he told members of the censor board that it was a comedy and asked why it was taking so long. Kona Venkat said this push helped the film get its certificate. He added that every film needs sacrifices, and that Chiranjeevi gave a great deal for this one.

There is another link to the star. The film pokes fun at Acharya, Chiranjeevi's box office disaster. Kona Venkat said some people might think Chiranjeevi was hurt by this. Instead, he took the jokes in good spirit and said the satire would be the highlight of the film.

Comrade Kalyan is directed by Janakiram Marella and stars Mahima Nambiar as the female lead. It released last week and is holding strong at the box office. Reports say the film, made on a modest budget, crossed its worldwide breakeven mark within four days, and weekday collections have stayed steady through the Dasara festive season.
