# Bombay High Court refuses to stop Kangana Ranaut's Queen Forever

> The Bombay High Court has declined Phantom Studios' plea for an interim injunction against Queen Forever, the sequel to Kangana Ranaut's 2014 hit Queen, so work on the film can go on for now.

Queen Forever can move ahead. On Wednesday, the Bombay High Court turned down Phantom Studios India Pvt Ltd's request for an interim injunction against Jiostar India Pvt Ltd, the company producing the sequel to Kangana Ranaut's 2014 hit Queen.

Justice Sandeep Marne, sitting as a single judge, declined the relief. Phantom Studios, a co-producer of the original film, had told the court that Queen won critical praise, did well at the box office and built up strong goodwill over the years. Kangana, who led the first film, also stars in the new one.

The studio's case rests on ownership. Its suit says Phantom and Jiostar each hold 50 per cent of the intellectual property rights in Queen. According to the studio, their co-production agreement gives both sides equal rights over any sequel, prequel, remake or other work built on the film's story or characters.

Phantom said it never agreed to a sequel or any other derivative project. It sent Jiostar several caution notices from April 2026 onwards, asking it to stop plans for any project linked to Queen. Jiostar shared no details of the film despite those notices, the studio said.

Pressing for urgent relief, Phantom told the court the film was reportedly due for release within a few months. It wanted Jiostar, the producer and their representatives barred from making, shooting, releasing, streaming or promoting any follow-up titled Queen Forever or Queen 2 without its written consent. The court did not grant that order at this stage.
