> Ayushmann Khurrana's Udta Teer will now release in theatres on October 23 instead of October 9, as the makers look for a quieter release window with fewer competing films.

Ayushmann Khurrana's upcoming film Udta Teer has a new release date. The film was earlier set to reach theatres on October 9 and will now open on October 23. The makers have pushed it back by two weeks to find a quieter spot on the calendar.

The team wants the film to have more room around its release instead of fighting for screens with several other titles in the same week. According to reports, the makers said they wanted a cleaner release window and a stronger theatrical run, rather than settling for fewer screens in a market that had suddenly become crowded. Reports also note that the old date would have put the film only a week after Ajay Devgn's Drishyam The Conclusion, which is expected to do well at the box office.

Udta Teer is reportedly a comedy-drama. Reports say Ayushmann plays a Pakistani spy who loses his memory and ends up listed as an Indian counter-intelligence soldier, which leaves his Pakistani bosses confused. Sara Ali Khan, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev and Ram Kapoor are in the cast. Reports also add Rahul Bose, Suhail Nayyar, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Smita Tambe to the ensemble.

The film reportedly marks the directorial debut of Akash A Kaushik, who also wrote it. Reports name Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain as its producers.

Ayushmann was reportedly last seen in the romantic comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, which also starred Sara. Reports say he has Suraj Barjatya's Yeh Prem Mol Liya and Sameer Saxena's Mupapa lined up next. With the new date fixed, promotions for Udta Teer are expected to build up in the weeks before October 23.
