# Avengers Endgame Encore closes in on India's biggest Hollywood re-release title

> Avengers Endgame Encore held well on its first Monday in India, and reports say it has either passed Interstellar already or will do so on Day 5 to become the country's biggest Hollywood re-release.

Avengers Endgame: Encore is proving that Marvel still pulls a crowd in India. The re-release of the Russo Brothers' blockbuster, padded with fresh footage that ties into Avengers: Doomsday, filled cinemas over its opening weekend and then held up on its first Monday. Trade estimates for that Monday sit between Rs 2.35 crore and Rs 2.50 crore net, reportedly a drop of about 68 per cent from opening day, which counts as a healthy hold for a re-release.

Where the trackers differ is the running total. One count puts the four-day net at Rs 24.8 crore, while another has it at Rs 28.25 crore, with the first three days reportedly bringing in Rs 8 crore, Rs 9 crore and Rs 8.75 crore in turn. The benchmark is Interstellar's IMAX-only re-release, whose India total is listed at anywhere from Rs 24.6 crore to Rs 29 crore. So by one reading Endgame is already the biggest Hollywood re-release in the country, and by another it gets there on Day 5.

The next target is bigger. Sanam Teri Kasam reportedly holds the record for the biggest re-release of any kind in India at Rs 42 crore, and Endgame has a genuine shot at it. The catch is the calendar, since Drishyam: The Conclusion is due this Friday and reports say it could push the Marvel film out of screens before it gets there.

Globally, the encore run reportedly opened to an estimated $86 million and took the top spot at the worldwide box office, the second-highest opening ever for a theatrical re-release. North America gave about $26 million and international markets around $60 million. India reportedly ranked as the fifth-largest market with roughly $2.8 million, or close to Rs 25 crore, behind the United States, China, the United Kingdom and Mexico.

The film is reportedly playing on more than 3,500 screens across India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, including IMAX and a new premium large format label called Marvel Studios Presents Infinity Vision. The added scenes set up Avengers: Doomsday, due in cinemas on 18 December 2026. For a brand that seemed to have lost some of its pull in recent years, this response is a strong signal ahead of that release.
