> Amitabh Bachchan was seen holding out his hand to help Jaya Bachchan up the stairs at a Mumbai book launch with Gulzar, and clips of the warm moment are spreading fast online.

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan joined veteran lyricist and filmmaker Gulzar at a book launch in Mumbai, and videos from the evening are now spreading quickly across social media. The moment fans keep replaying is a simple one. Big B, already on stage, reached out his hand to help Jaya as she climbed the stairs, and he made sure she was steady once she got up there.

The book being launched was reportedly DR BLUE: A Cancer Surgeon's Journey into the Human Side of Healing, written by Dr P Jagannath. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was among the well known faces in the crowd, along with several other prominent personalities.

Once Jaya reached the top, Gulzar reportedly put his arms around her and the two started chatting, which soon had her laughing out loud. Fans online were quick to notice how rarely they see the actress this relaxed in public, with some joking that she was finally smiling. In another clip, Gulzar is said to hand Jaya a parcel, which she takes with a smile.

The outing also comes soon after reports that Amitabh hurt his left knee in a fall on the set of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 in late September 2026. The 83 year old star later assured fans the injury was not serious and that he only had slight trouble getting up. He reportedly kept hosting the show for the rest of the shoot.

The three veterans go back a long way. Gulzar has worked with Amitabh on several films and projects over the years, and reports say that association goes back to the 1970s, with Gulzar working as a filmmaker, writer and lyricist. He also has a long history with Jaya, including their much loved film Guddi.

For the evening, Jaya reportedly picked an elegant off-white anarkali, while Gulzar wore an all-white kurta pyjama. Amitabh also went with a white kurta pyjama and added a waistcoat.
