> Ajith Kumar asked fans to support him at the Michelin Le Mans Cup final round in Portugal on October 9 and 10, and his followers answered with both criticism and loyal defence.

Ajith Kumar has asked fans to back him at the final round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup, and the request has split his own followers online.

The actor shared a video from the Algarve region of Portugal, where he is getting ready to race at the Portimao circuit on October 9 and 10. "I expect all your support. Love you all," he said in the clip.

Some fans did not take it well. Their complaint is simple: Ajith has kept his followers at arm's length for years, so why ask for their backing now? "Sorry, Thala, no time. I am going to work. I love my family," one fan wrote under the video. Another asked why he wanted support today when he had turned it down back when fans were keen to give it.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, who flagged off an earlier race Ajith took part in, also came up in the comments. "Ask your friend Vijay for support," one commenter wrote.

Plenty of fans pushed back against the trolling. They argued that the video was made for the official race event and was never aimed at cinema audiences, and they urged others not to turn his motorsport career into one more fan war. One supporter said the circuit management had recorded and shared the clip to promote the race.
